Fabdec powers NHS South Wales development

Kettering-based plumbing specialists D.M.M Heating & Plumbing Ltd have praised Fabdec’s Excelsior WI Commercial unvented water heaters following a successful installation at three locations for NHS South Wales.

The installation was implemented at three kidney dialysis centres located in Cardiff, Newport and Pontypool respectively, each with unique requirements and providing vital services for the local community.

Fabdec’s versatility was displayed throughout the design and installation process, tailoring individual requirements in both new build developments in Cardiff and Pontypool and when retrofitted to an existing building in Newport. Dave McAuley, of D.M.M Heating & Plumbing, installed the 500l vessels across the three locations, providing invaluable hot water for heating and washing across the facilities.

Speaking about the installation Dave said: “The Fabdec WI Commercial was uniquely suited to these installations, particularly as it gave us the ability to provide perfect sizing depending on the specifications of the build. The installation was quick and simple and the customer can be confident that they have a cylinder that will last.”

The WI Commercial provides the benefits of Fabdec’s Excelsior technology in a bespoke commercial format, with sizes ranging from 450l to over 10,000l, and specifications that can be sized and placed to the requirements of the project.

Dave added: “NHS South Wales will have real peace of mind from this cylinder. Reliability is the most important factor for a development like this that provides essential care for patients in the area, so it’s great to be able to install a product that I’m totally confident will go the distance.”

Excelsior i 3S
Excelsior i 3S a ‘dream to fit’

A Shrewsbury plumbing specialist has commended Fabdec’s Excelsior i water heater as a ‘dream to fit’. Ian Forbes, of Shrewsbury Plumbing & Heating, installed one of our 150-litre Excelsior 3S cylinders into a large detached home with multiple bedrooms and bathrooms, providing hot water for space heating and washing facilities.

Ian said: “I’ve done a number of Fabdec cylinders and they have all been good quality but this is the first time installing an Excelsior i 3S. “When the 3S version came out, I really liked the look of it for this particular project and was happy to recommend it to the homeowner. The internal expansion gap was particularly appealing, meaning that the cylinder has an extremely long-life with very little maintenance required. “With no external vessel it also saved space and was simple to install – I placed and fitted everything within approximately three to four hours, rather than a standard six to eight hours. It literally cut half the time off the installation and that’s including a full tank drain.”

Fabdec’s revolutionary 3S Technology is the world’s first true self-sustaining system, based on an internal expansion system and offering some major advantages. It features a patented system in which atmospheric air is drawn into the system as water is demanded upstream. Because this occurs as per the hot water demand it does not deteriorate in performance over a period of time. The 3S technology also maintains 3 bar working pressure at outlet. Besides reduced maintenance the 3S Technology offers quicker and easier installation, improved packaging and a complete fit and forget philosophy.

Ian added: “The homeowner is very happy with the cylinder and has also told me it is easy to use, responsive and compact. “I would 100% recommend the Excelsior 3S to other plumbers and installers – it’s a dream to fit, and Fabdec provide great service. Their staff are there if and when you need them and can deliver products to you on the same day which can be a real help.”

The Whiteley Mill
Stapleford, Nottingham

The new and revolutionary Fabdec range of unvented water heaters have been installed at a prestigious refurbishment of an old mill building in Stapleford, Nottingham. The Fabdec 3S technology ('Self-Sustaining System') follows an internal expansion concept in that the expansion is taken up by a void in the top of the vessel. This does away with the unsightly and difficult to package expansion vessel, utilising an inlet valve instead.

Dave Gibbons from DG Plumbing & Heating said “I love the simplicity of the installation along with the convenience of not having to fit an expansion vessel into a tight space.”
